Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum

The Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum

Founded in 1922, it was the former Association specialising in East Asian art in France. Léon Wannick, the first President of the Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum, was a leading art dealer. He sold and donated , among others, the buddhist sculptures "Boddhisattva of Yungang" in 1922 and "Buddha Meditating" , bequeathed through his widow in 1955. After him and over the years, great French art dealers - such as Jacques Barrère, Jean-Michel Beurdeley and Christian Deydier - have contributed for a large part to the increase of the collections.

Today, with about thirteen  thousand inventory  numbers ranging from ancient bronzes (14thB.C. - 3rd A.D.), the Cernuschi collections are internationally famous.

As far as acquisitions, events and sponsorship are concerned, the museum benefits from the help of the Society of Friends of the Cernuschi Museum.

The Friends of the Cernuschi Museum are invited to the private inaugurations of the Museum and can visit for free the temporary exhibitions of all the museum of the City of Paris :
