马德升在1986年移居巴黎前，为“星星画会”成员，这是后毛泽东时代第一个艺术团体。创作于1990年及1991年的这两幅水墨画正展现了这种艺术风格，这也是80年代以来备受推崇的艺术题材。笔触浓墨，拒绝传统学院派的教条，别具一格的风景与裸女形象，具有明显的性暗示，表现出马德升希望在传统水墨画的基础上，创新技法与绘画主题的意愿。
VISITORS INFORMATION - From January 30, 2023 and for a period of six months, part of the permanent collections will be closed due to renovation works of the building. Spaces 1 to 5 will remain open to the public, spaces 6 to 14 (from the Buddha Hall to the Painting Room) will be closed. During this time, temporary exhibitions will continue to be presented on ground floor, such as the exhibitions "Kim Tschang-Yeul, Drops and Strokes" and "Painting and Ceramics in dialogue" from April 14 to July 30, 2023.
