Several buckles have been discovered in Minusinsk, in Buryatia and in Liaoning, south-east Siberia in its broadest definition constituting the most likely centre of production.
They all depict a fierce animal, probably a wolf, surrounded by heads of birds of prey. The pieces that have been unearthed in situ to date are devoid of gilding.
Large ovoid hollows, probably for incrustations of precious stones, have been compared to those in works usually considered as Sarmation, which hardly allows for the geographical distance between them.
