Ishigaki Satoru’s mizusashi was made of a copper and tin alloy in 2013. It plays on the juxtaposition between the red and greenish-brown exterior and the inner surface scored with thin parallel lines. The work of Ishigaki, a graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts, which embraces traditional and everyday forms, such as this one acquired by the museum, represents the new generation of bronze artists. He has won awards at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition (Nihon dentô kôgei ten) and at the tea ceremony ceramics biennial exhibition at the Musée Tomo, Tokyo.
