Modern Vestiges is a structure inspired by the discovery of Maya sites and by the notion of the impermanence of works of art. Its construction evokes the extinction of brilliant civilisations, and offers a glimpse of the future state of our cities.
Using Seto porcelain, Takeuchi Kôzo casts square tubes, which he deliberately breaks with a hammer, before joining them together with slip and firing them. He thus seeks to “create an awareness of the notion of time, past or future”.
